DUBAI: AN EXTREEMLY RICH CITY

Dubai is the perfect example of what the power of money can do. 5000 years ago the money from the Pharao's build the great pyramides to proof how rich and properous they were. Back to the babylonians they build gardens that till today were among the 7 wonders of the world !!! Dubai is extremely extravagant, Architect are rushing to build their craziest designs. Megaconstructions at high speed are build in a place were 20 years ago was just a fishing port that was barely important.
What happened?

Dubai is part of the 7 states that comprises the United Arab Emirates. A country on the Persian Gulf. It has a sub-tropical, arid climate. Before the discovery of oil; the region was famous for it's pearl industry. Which now belongs to museums. The economy was dependent on the capital Abu dabi. During the course of the 1990s, many foreign trading communities — first from Kuwait, during the Persian Gulf War, and later from Bahrain, during the Shia unrest, moved their businesses to Dubai. Dubai provided refueling bases to allied forces at the Jebel Ali free zone during the Persian Gulf war, and again, during the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. Large increases in oil prices after the Persian Gulf war encouraged Dubai to continue to focus on free trade and tourism. The success of the Jebel Ali free zone allowed the city to replicate its model to develop clusters of new free zones, including Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City and Dubai Maritime City. The construction of Burj Al Arab, the world's tallest freestanding hotel, as well as the creation of new residential developments, were used to market Dubai for purposes of tourism. Since 2002, the city has seen an increase in private real estate investment in recreating Dubai's skyline with such projects as The Palm Islands, The World Islands and Burj Dubai. However, robust economic growth in recent years has been accompanied by rising inflation rates (at 11.2% as of 2007 when measured against Consumer Price Index) which is attributed in part due to the near doubling of commercial and residential rental costs, resulting in a substantial increase in the cost of living for residents

Dubai's gross domestic product as of 2006 was US$46 billion. Although Dubai's economy was built on the back of the oil industry, revenues from oil and natural gas currently account for less than 6% of the emirate's revenues. It is estimated that Dubai produces 240,000 barrels of oil a day and substantial quantities of gas from offshore fields. The emirate's share in UAE's gas revenues is about 2%. Dubai's oil reserves have diminished significantly and are expected to be exhausted in 20 years. Trade (16%), entrepĂ´t (15%) and financial services (11%) are the largest contributors to Dubai's economy.
Historically, Dubai and its twin across the Dubai creek, Deira (independent of Dubai City at that time), became important ports of call for Western manufacturers. Most of the new city's banking and financial centres were headquartered in the port area. Dubai maintained its importance as a trade route through the 1970s and 1980s. The city of Dubai has a free trade in gold and until the 1990s was the hub of a "brisk smuggling trade" of gold ingots to India, where gold import was restricted.
Dubai is considered to be an important tourist destination and its port, Jebel Ali, constructed in the 1970s, has the largest man-made harbor in the world. Dubai is also increasingly developing as a hub for service industries such as IT and finance, with the establishment of a new Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). The government has set up industry-specific free zones throughout the city. Dubai Internet City, combined with Dubai Media City as part of TECOM (Dubai Technology, Electronic Commerce and Media Free Zone Authority) is one such enclave whose members include IT firms such as EMC Corporation, Oracle Corporation, Microsoft, and IBM, and media organisations such as MBC, CNN, Reuters and AP.
The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) was established in March 2000 as a secondary market for trading securities and bonds, both local and foreign. As of Q4 2006, its trading volume stood at about 400 billion shares worth US$ 95 billion. The DFM had a market capitalization of about US$ 87 billion.
The government's decision to diversify from a trade-based, but oil-reliant, economy to one that is service and tourism-oriented has made real estate more valuable, resulting in the property appreciation from 2004–2006. Large scale real estate development projects have led to the construction of some of the tallest skyscrapers and largest projects in the world such as the Emirates Towers, the Palm Islands and the world's tallest, and most expensive, hotel the Burj Al Arab. As of July 2007, the Burj Dubai became the world's tallest structure and is expected to be taller by several hundred feet, once construction is complete. Construction should finish in late 2008 and the building occupied by September of 2009. There will be an estimated 164 floors, the top floor at 624.1 meters, or 2,058 feet. Including the antennae and spire the total height of the Burj Dubai will be an estimated 818 meters, or 2,684 feet
Burj Dubai planned construction.

One Minute Millionaire

The One minute Millionaire is one the best books I've ever read. Written by Mark Victor Hansen and Real-estate guru Robert Allen. It tells the story about Michlle, a Widowed mother whose life is troubled. She needs to raise One million dollar in just 90 days or she will lose custody of her children. An incredible story that could happen to all of us. Coupled with the story is a some pratical advice to achieve financial success. Self development and awardness of the best of each and everyone of us.

A lot of quotes are in the aligment of "the Secret" by Rhonda Byrne. It's just a pleasure to read it. I myself purposed it to my partners to read it. If someone asks me, well I would like to be thaught how to be rich, than my first question is: for what purpose? To be rich is to be responsable, money needs to be adored like your partner in life. If you waist your money than money will waist you! besides my opinion is that the first statment of being rich is to be satisfied with the things you allready have. "A richman is the one who is satisfied with the things he has", better I quote one of the passages in the book: "In 1870, 27 years old Russel H. Conwell was serving as an international correspondent for the American Traveler, a weekly journal published in Boston. On assigment, he was riding in a camel caravan along the valley between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in Mesopotamia when he heard his Arab guide weave tales to entertain his American tourists. The young Conwell was deeply impressed by a legend about a prosperous Persian farmer, Ali Hafed. Lured by the stories of a Buddhist priest, Ali Hafed deserted his own fruitful farm to search for immense wealth in mythical diamond fields. Far and wide Ali Hafed roamed footsore and weary. Youth and wealth disappeared, and he died far from home, an old and disillusioned pauper.

Not long afterward, the guide related, acres of fabulous diamonds were found on Ali Hafed's own land." The story can be compared with real stories about people that searched for fortune elsewere and found it in their own backyard. Money should appreciated, loved.
I advice you to read this book and you will be more enlightened about the way you have to deal with money.

The law of attraction

Well you have been exposed to Rhonda Byrne's videos about the law of attraction I suppose and of course I'm tottaly aware of the fact that her perception of the law of attraction seems to be a bit magical rather than metaphysic. I totally agree with Ester Hicks about the fact that we build our own destiny. Which is a concept that was gone for ages, in the middle-class and poor people on earth.
80% of the people that watch or read about "the secret" are asking for more wealth, why? because 80% of the people think that money will solve all their problems! Do you think that? Let me give you just one actual example !! Britney Spears ! Do you think that her money will solve her problems? Michael Jackson? Well, you got the picture! the message in the secret is happiness, freedom, Joy, friendship, love and off course money will be a contibuent part of it.
Let me tell you shortly my story an than you will understand better my point of view and why I embrase the secret law of attraction:

In the past my life was a perfect disaster in every way you can imagine:
I was allways broke, I had several jobs and I couldn't hold to one. I gain weight, I lost my hair due to stress, I smoked more than 20 sigarettes a day. My health was going backwards. I had debts that I couldn't pay for the next 20 to 30 years !! My girlfriend cheatted on me, than one day she left. I was alone. I closed myself from society. My only friend was my laptop and the internet were I began to live as if there was no one in the world. One day a friend came to me and asked me to follow him to Italy to live a new life !! I was tempted but at first I didn't trust him. Well,I told myself what the hell, Do you think that the next months were better? hell no, even worse, this friend of mine lost all his savings and I had to help him aswell with the little money I brought with me. After two weeks we were broke. We were desperate to find a job. There were nights that we went to bed starving from the hunger. We started fighting and blaming each other for the situation. We moved to the north. I found a temporary job that payed me peanuts. But I resisted till one day....
For years I dreamed of that girl, a girl that is smart, beautyfull, sexy and kind: Well destiny is sometimes strange, I pictured that girl in my mind and there she was!! (Strange thing to visualize someone and she appears!)

I was looking for a job and than she called me for a new job. I went to the job interview and than something happens. Both of us were speechless, we felt for each other. In less than one month we were living togheter. We went to visit my parents for the holidays.

DO YOU THINK THAT MY MISERY WAS FINISHED? Well no, I was still looking for a good job and than one day I came in contact with the secret of Rhond Byrne, It changed my life for good: Our love is now more intense than ever. I didn't touch a sigarette since, my health was never so good, I wheight now 167 pounds and now I am one of the most important figures in the biggest Italian company !! My girlfriend and I are wanting to have our first child.
Every day I prayed, I never lost my determination.
How I did it at the end? well I will tell you shortly
